Shotokan Academy aspires to reach out, spread and promote the teachings and ideologies of the art of Shotokan Karate across East Africa and beyond.

The center aims at becoming among the world’s most trusted Houses of Tradition Shotokan Karate – Do and be able to enlighten, Inspire & Empower many.

It was quite an honor for the Academy to have been given the recognition and admiration in its efforts to promote the art and nurturing talents in the Coast Region.

2ND ANUAL AWARDS FESTIVAL

At least 150 Karateka’s from Dojo’s and clubs across the Coast Line i.e Lamu, Malindi, Mtwapa, Shanzu,, Mombasa Island, Likoni etc participated at the function and 45 karateka’s were examined by Shihan Mustafa Hussein Ahmed and graded up to new ranks during the event.

Jamhuri Day 2018

Jamhuri Day is a national holiday in Kenya, celebrated on 12 December each year. Jamhuri is the Swahili word for "republic" and the holiday is meant to officially mark the date when Kenya became an independent republic which happened on 12th December 1964.
It also marks Kenya's independence from the United Kingdom a year earlier on 12 December 1963.
Jamhuri Day is one of Kenya's most important holidays due to its historical significance. The day is celebrated with many events such as feasts, political speeches and parades, all of which celebrate the country's cultural heritage.
Shotokan Academy will be closed on this day and wish to call upon all karateka's, friends and respective families to join fellow Kenyans at large to mark this auspicious 55th Independence Day.

Shotokan Academy is delighted to have participated in the Career Expo 2018 organised by "Mombasa yetu" that was held at the Serani Sports Grounds on the 15th & 16th of Sept 2018. The two day event targeted secondary students and beyond and aimed at offering career guidance plus encourage tapping of academic and professional opportunities readily available in the market. Such events should be encouraged, supported and held frequently.

1st Award Festival - Shotokan Academy

Shotokan Academy held their first official festival at Mombasa on Saturday, the 14th July 2018 to award their newly graded students who have risen up to higher levels and their Mombasa Team that participated and won at the Tanzanian National Championships. Companies, Organizations & individuals who have supported the sport events of the Academy on different capacities were also recognized, appreciated and awarded including the most supportive parents.

Shotokan Academy and staff are greatly honored by the recent promotion of their Director Sensei Walid M. Timimi to FICS – Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - UK.
He was officially presented with an FICS certificate by The institute of Chartered shipbrokers, ICS E.A branch during The 13th Annual Dinner and Award Presentation Gala that was held at the City Blues Creek side hotel at Mombasa on the 4th May 2018.

Kenya Karate Open Championship 2018
